Money is an idea. It is a medium of exchange to get the thing
we want. Dollar bills especially
represent an idea. The cost of the raw
materials of the actual paper and ink of any dollar bill regardless of
denomination is only two cents. In the
future, dollar bulls will be worthless cloth paper and will be a symbol of an
era past.
This is unlike precious metals
and jewels that have survived the test of time for their value. If I could physically time travel, I could
theoretically take some silver coins in my personal collection to the market of
an ancient society like Egypt or Greece and buy myself a hearty meal and some
clothes.
Regardless, we all have agreed to
use dollars to attain what we want. We
even go into debt based on this idea.
The question is, “What do we exchange for dollars?” Getting money for money’s sake does not make
sense.
You have to buy and pay for
things like clothing, shelter and transportation. You also have to invest that money in
something that will then generate a greater value.
We invest in our own children’s
education in hopes that the degrees that we earn will help foster the ability
to navigate the future with greater facility.
We invest in securities like
stocks and bonds, trusting that we will receive dividends from the profit of
business corporations.
These things are great. Most of us do not have a problem with what
money can get us, but folks often have a problem with money itself.
What would you do with more money...?
Pay down your bills? Travel the world?
Help loved ones that don’t have money?
Donate to social organizations or charity? Give more to your house of spiritual
worship?
Presently, money as we know it
helps all these things continue to be possible.
Keep this in mind if you believe that money is evil, or it is not worth
the time to generate money for yourself.
Get money, so that you can have
it and do the things with it that are necessary in able for you to be who you
are to be.
